The Cherokee Boys Cross Country Team had a good day at the Burlington County Open on Friday at Millcreek Park!
JV Race:
Things got off to a strong start in the JV race which saw Cherokee sweep the first eleven places, led by senior, Anthony DiBatista, the individual champion. Anthony’s time of 17:06 gave him a 35 second victory over teammate, Dom Pileri, who, in his return from injury, ran very well in his first race since last cross country season!
Behind Dom, Tate Midora, Leo Vyvyan, Gavin Danielewicz, Max Harada, Bruce Novoa, Liam Daimler, Carlo Brown, Dylan Weiner, and Evan Amato placed third through eleventh in the field of 142 runners! Jack Finley - 15th, Charlie Wasserott - 21st, and Sam Wright - 22nd, gave Cherokee 14 of the first 22 places in the race!
Varsity Race:
With the championship season just beginning, and with a lot of challenging races coming up, the goal for the varsity squad was to run together and get the win while expending as little effort as possible, saving the big efforts for later. That is exactly what they did. With 3/4 of a mile to go, a group of nine runners, including seven from Cherokee, were all running together.
Over the last segment of the race, things picked up when freshman, Jack Tindall, went to the lead. Jack did just enough to hold the lead to the line for the win, becoming the first freshman ever to win the Burlington County Championship! Behind Jack, Ben Realley - 3rd, Logan Bromley - 4th, Enzo Corona - 5th, Liam Tindall - 6th, Ben Weiner - 7th, and Sean Sooy - 8th, all finished within 17 seconds to give Cherokee a score of 19, and a 49 point victory over second place, Shawnee! The win extended the team’s county win streak to 11 years and was the 26th county championship in school history!
Next up, the team will head to Dream Park on October 24th to face rival, Cherry Hill East, at the Olympic Conference Championship!

Fundraising Goals
It is the mission of 4xAlumni to support the current crop of track and field and cross country athletes.
We are focusing on 5 major areas that we feel, with the support of the coaches, are important for this generation of student-athletes:
Offset or completely cover the cost of post-season events not sponsored by the school. This includes National Meets (cross country, indoor and outdoor track) and invitationals (Oregon, etc).
Award scholarships for deserving seniors.
Provide State Champions and School Record holders with gifts.
Support families with athletes who would like to attend a cross country camp but cannot afford it.
Provide funding for athletes needing physiotherapy who cannot afford it.
We currently only have the availability to collect funds via Venmo, but we are actively seeking ways to collect via credit card, Zelle, PayPal, and other forms to accommodate the ecosystem in 2024.
During the months of September, October and November, we will be collecting funds that will directly contribute to funding for cross country post-season meets. Please consider donating to help fund our scholarship money.
